We Partied With Michael & Tatum!

Back in the day in the seventies Buzz Foto was photographing the stars with film. Yes hard to believe it, but yes it is true. We had to have two cameras with us at all times. One for color and the other for black and white. Shooting color was always a very expensive proposition and it took at least one day to get the film processed. We were then faced with making duplicate slides and expensive prints. Then we had the taske of mailing or air freighting our photos to our magazine and newspaper clients in over thirty countries. Keep in mind that this was way before the days of FedEx. The good part is that there was practically zero competition and no one in the industry knew anything about photo syndication and could not fathom that you could make money with your photos in Europe, Australia and Japan. We of course were on our own mission.

A Tribute to Michael

There’s something stark and solemn about a black and white foto, and coupled with the subject, it’s a foto that will remain memorable. The Apollo Theater in Harlem honored the late Michael Jackson with a a memorial tribute at 5:26pm (the time he died) in New York City, New York. The marquee outside reads: “A moment of silence to honor Michael Jackson, 5:26pm, 6/30/2009.

Christian Audigier Sends Flowers to Michael

Christian Audigier sent flowers to the home of Michael Jackson in the Holmby Hills following reports of his death in Los Angeles, California. Fans gathered outside his home and honored him with a shrine of flowers, signs and gifts. Jackson was allegedly paying an astounding $100,000 a month for the chateau style seven-bedroom home which was recently on the market for $38 million. It is owned by Roxanne Guez and was bought in 2004 for $18.5 million by her husband Herbert Guez. The three-story Richard Landry designed home was built in 2002 and includes a library, theater room and wine cellar. There is also a pool and a guest house on the property.

We Will Always Remember Michael

When we started out in the photo business some three decades ago we were all teenagers just out for a laugh and a shout with a camera in hand. All us were aspiring journalists, photographers, actors and musicians. We all knew each other and partied and danced together. Michael was always around. Yes he was very shy, but he was right there on the scene. Leif, Tatum, Michael and of course Rodney Bingenheimer was responsible for putting it all together. How can we forget one day in Malibu when Michael was asking Leif for some dating tips! You really had to be there for that one. Everyone went off in different directions and the last time we saw Michael was in 1982. We will never forget those magical days and memories. We hope that you will enjoy these photographs.

Neverland Ranch Hauntingly Empty

Neverland Ranch, the lavish dream home and creation of Michael Jackson that opened in 1988, looked bare and empty the day following Michael Jackson’s unexpected death in Los Olivos, California.

In 2008 Michael Jackson was forced to give up the deed to the Neverland Ranch allegedly in order to pay off what he owed. In April 2009, Michael Jackson’s private collection of memorabilia were set to be auctioned off to pay down an alleged $24 million debt. The auction was later cancelled. The ranch is located on 5225 Figueroa Mountain Road in Santa Barbara County, California. The ranch covers 2,800 acres and in 2004 had an estimated worth of $120 million. The ranch is named after the fictional island Neverland, the fantasy island in the story of Peter Pan, where children never grow up.

Hundreds of Michael Jackson fans arrive at the UCLA Medical Center to mourn the pop singer. Fans made makeshift t-shirts, signs, posters and wore white gloves showing their support for the pop singer in Westwood California.

Breaking News! Michael Jackson Has Passed Away!

Today is a sad day in the taking of Legends. Sources are now reporting that King of Pop, Michael Jackson has passed away.

After struggling through a troubled comeback, the Los Angeles Times reported that the singer had been rushed to a Los Angeles-area hospital by fire department paramedics who found him not breathing when they arrived at the singer’s home. TMZ.com has now reported that Michael Jackson has died.

TMZ is quoted as saying, “Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon and paramedics were unable to revive him. We’re told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.”
We send our condolences to family, friends and fans.

Raw Fotos In The Street!

We have been digging though our vast Buzz Foto archive and came up with this cool photograph of Michael Jackson taken in 1978 outside of the old Chasen’s restaurant in Beverly Hills. Interesting that we were with Michael inside the party for CBS Records all evening, but the most exciting photographs were done in the street. Why? Because they are raw photographs and that is still what we look for today thirty years later with the modern day Buzz Foto!
