Do you have any idea how many times we have heard this over the years? Yes, and most of the time it is just hot air, but it is a bit scary when you are 16 and Robert Plant comes after you with his bodyguards at your very own park in Encino. Plant went nuts when our Buzz Foto photographer shot this in 1978. ” Give me your business card”. ” You will never work again”. It was not amusing back then, but now we can laugh it off. In fact we ran into Plant at our hotel in Paris a few years ago and had a nice laugh. Remember you newbie Paparazzos, if you are in public place and the stars start to yell at you, just tell them to get a life. Enjoy your 4 th of July and run out and take some nice iconic photos of Paris and Lindsay this weekend.

We just adore showing off this session from 1980 of rocker Leif Garrett and then aspiring model Nicolette Sheridan. Leif called up Buzz Foto snapper, Brad and said ” get right over here”. “I have a new girlfriend and bring your camera”! We had a blast doing this photo session and still get requests for these photos almost 30 years later. Photographers remember, never sell your copyright. These photos just keep on selling and selling. Get in touch with us if you want Buzz to rep your photos.

This was a photo session for Super Teen Magazin in 1980. Back then, you would just ring up the stars and ask for a photo shoot. Most of the time you got the session and it was a breeze. This was before Glam Squads and officious little publicists. There were no over produced photos. Like with this classic photo of Matt Dillon, you just stuck them up against the wall and shoot them with one or two strobe heads. That was the elegance of photography back then. Good luck getting a session like this today. It is interesting, if we had our choice to do a session with someone like a Brad Pitt today or to photograph them on the street Paparazzi style, we would go for the Hose Down. Why? It is in vogue and it is what sells today. Can you believe that Buzz Foto was getting these sessions almost three decades ago?

Kim Fowley was the most brilliant music producer of the Seventies. He wrote and produced the most amazing records. Kim was the person who hand picked a young sixteen year old girl from the San Fernando Valley to join his new band, The Runaways. The girl was Joan Jett. This photo was taken at writer Harvey Kubernik’s birthday party in Encino. Sitting on the floor next to Kim is Kevin Ayers who had a major influential force in the early English psychedelic movement. We think that the party was at the home of Steven T, but who remembers back 30 years. Hey Harv, was this 1976 or 1977? We see photographers and agencies come and go, but once again, Buzz Foto was on the scene and still is decades later.

This could have been a very dangerous situation. Barbara Streisand hated to have her photo taken. Not sure why, because back then she was really cute. The only time that she will have her photo taken is when she is selling something and she would work the Red Carpet. If she has nothing to sell… watch out. We kept our distance when she left the exclusive nightclub On The Roxy with her boyfriend Jon Peters and this is the photo that we got. That was around 1976 and back then there was no People or US Mag Buzz to sell to. We were happy to get a few bucks from Creem, Rolling Stone or Music Life in Japan. Just wonder if that is a Matisse that Jon is lugging to the car.

The year was 1976 and Joni Mitchell was music royalty. In fact, she still is. Joni did not go out much and magazines around the world especially in Japan were always asking for her photograph. Since she was not very happy having her photo taken, we had to take the Paparazzi Approach for this iconic photo of her leaving The Roxy on the Sunset Strip. It was all great fun and she had a laugh, but this was the birth of Paparazzi in the Seventies and Buzz Foto was, of course, there.
