Sophia Bush was at Pink Berry in Beverly Hills yesterday with a friend. We love Pink Berry and we are there all the time. Henry did a really nice set of photos and this is one want that we selected for our readers. Why? It has a wonderful sense of art and lovely composition. A shot of Sophia just staring into the camera is just plain boring.
We have been living in this town for ages and it never ceases to amaze us when we see a major star like Diana Ross strutting down the street. Henry found her yesterday in the heart of Beverly Hills and she gave him this wonderful photo.
This is the real Kim Karsashian! Henry spotted her yesterday in Beverly Hills without makeup. Makeup or not, she is still working the camera for us. Check out her tremendous rear end!
Here is our Britney Spears photo of the week. She was in Malibu at Cross Creek looking to do some shopping, but was appalled to find that none of the stores had stayed open for her.
We do not make a career following this woman around L.A. There are just too many photographers trying to follow Britney around town looking for that pot of gold. Reminds us of the California Gold Rush, but in cars and not on horseback.
You never know when you will see a celebrity. Look at this amazing photo of Harrison Ford taken last weekend at Disneyland taken by a Buzz Foto reader. We are marketing the photo and around the world and if there are sales, the contributor will receive a sales report detailing all of the activities and a check.
Magazines and newspapers always need a fresh stream of celebrity photos and they really do not care who takes them. What is most important is the subject matter and that they were taken in a legal fashion. So if you see a celebrity, take their photo and send it to us. Avril Lavigne showed a softer side this past Thursday while celebrating her 23rd birthday in Grand Rapids, Michigan with husband Deryck Whibley. After holding a very small party at Intersection where her husband’s band Sum 41 played a show earlier in the evening, Avril came outside to meet fans from her fansite AvrilBandaids.com. Avril was incredibly down to earth and proved herself as kind and grateful for the gifts her fans gave her. Guess how many photographers that were outside of Chasen’s taking this photo with us back in 1978? Just two including us! Today, you would never get this close to Jacko and if you did there would be a Dog Pack of fifty paps.
When this photo of Michael Jackson was taken, there were no mobs of Paparazzi anywhere. There was only a small market for Paparazzi photography and it was really limited to the National Equirer and National Star. The biggest market for any and all types of celebrity photography was Japan and Germany. Music Life in Japan and Bravo, Bunte and Freiziet in Germany.
Since we had personally visited all of these markets back in the 70′s, we knew what to do with these photos, but most photographers were totally clueless. You would mention to a photographer about Japanese and European sales and they would just look at you with a blank stare. They just did not get it so we had the markets pretty much all to ourselves.
Now today the markets are tremendous and Paparazzi photography is all the rage. There are dozens of countries who buy this stuff and there are hundreds of publications. Unfortunately, we do not have these markets to ourselves anymore. The word is out that this is a fun and potentially a profitable business ( if you know what you are doing ), but the competition is incredible.
What is interesting about this photo was that we were with Michael all evening at this Grammy Party. We could shoot him inside and he would do anything for our camera. Sure we sold some photos of him inside posing with other celebrities, but the photograph that stands out now almost thirty years later is this one of him on the sidewalk. Probably because it is so natural and you can catch the real Michael.
Today the business is not as easy as it was a couple of years ago. Prices are lower due to the flood of material on the market. You can still do a really good business, but you need to fight for it. It is all still great fun and that is what keeps us coming back to this industry. We have decades of experience and maintain a wonderful and personal relationship with all of our clients.
