We can do the same here at Buzz Foto with emerging and established paparazzi. We only ask that you follow all the rules and be loyal to us. If you are only nterested in the fast buck, please do not bother applying!

You should have been at the the premiere of The Changeling in New York this evening. Here is a list of the stars attending: Ron Galella, Justin Campbell and oh yes, Angelina Jolie with Brad Pitt. This was a true moment in paparazzi history when the king of our industry, Ron Galella took the time to meet with the next generation, our Justin Campbell. This is what Ron was always about, sharing all of his talent and knowledge with the new paparazzi breed. Thank you Ron for your paparazzi mentoring over the years, but more importantly your friendship. We love you Ron. P.S. All of the paparazzi history this evening was caught on camera by Academy Award winning-director Leon Gast for his upcoming documentary on Ron & the paparazzi.

We made this photograph of Prince in the mid eighties at the American Music Awards. He was a new artist and everyone was excited about seeing him at the show.

We took performance, backstage and arrival photos that evening and nothing really stood out except this photograph. Because we were shooting for the producer, Dick Clark we had all access to the show. That is all fine, but sometimes that is all overkill when it comes to making an iconic photograph. The best and most iconic foto of the evening can be the first photo of them arriving that you share with the entire dog pack.

Kind of like when Galella would wait outside a party and after a thousand inside photographs the star would emerge from the back door and he would do his magic for thirty seconds. Those Galella photographs were the ones to grace the pages of People the following week!

If you missed Studio 54 in the seventies, it is not too late to go rush out and buy a copy of Ron’s new book. You do not need to dress up and beg at the door to get in. You just go to your local book story with a credit card and you too can experience the magic.

Ron, you look great. See you soon.

We just had a nice note from Ron Galella. Ron is doing great taking photos, working on numerous book projects and doing photo exhibitions all over the world.

The most incredible news is that Ron’s work has been accepted by The Museum Of Modern Art in New York! This is wonderful news that MoMa has recognized that Paparazzi is a form of art and more importantly that it is the work of Ron, the godfather of this incredible business.

We can not tell you how hard Ron worked to achieve this accolade and he deserves every once of his success and celebrity. We have know Ron for thirty plus years and we remember him standing out on the street for hours in the freezing cold while he was performing his craft. For Ron, it was not just about selling a photo to People Magazine or the National Enquirer, it was his passion. He would have done it all for free.

Back then, many of he celebrities understood Ron’s work, but most of the celebrity Public Relations flack never had a clue. They did not care about anyone’s passion or love for their work as a photographer. What did the PR know about art or culture?

The flack just did not understand why Ron worked the way that he did. So since many of the uncultured PR did not get it, they used their energy into keeping Ron out of events. Kind of like if you were going to tell Matisse that he would have to stand outside of Villa Le Reve and he would have to paint from outside the villa!

Looking back, the unrelenting PR might have been a blessing for Ron who would still do his coverage, but many times from the outside. Do not feel sorry for Ron standing outside of an event. We can not tell you how many times he covered from the outside and People Magazine would end up using his photos for the story. Why would People Mag use Ron’s photos instead of those from the inside? Because his photographs were not posed and Ron understood what the magazines wanted.

So thirty years later Ron is at MoMa and he is the toast of the town around the world. Those PR agents who made trouble for Ron lost their retainers years ago and have nothing to show for their craft.

Today, thankfully, most of the PR agents have an understanding how important Paparazzi is today and it is finally becoming an an art form.

This photo you see here we took in 1979 backstage at a Leif Garrett concert in Houston. Ron always loved that 300 2.8 lens!

Ron Galella, the GREATEST Paparazzo of all time and our good friend. Ron was one of the first Paparazzi and when he ruled he had style and grace. A good friend and mentor to many. He was always full of information and stories to share with all up incoming Paparazzi. Ron is still around and doing wonderful books and shows of his photographs. He is a celebrity now and truly Paparazzo royalty. His latest book is Disco Years, published by our good friends at Power House in Brooklyn.

This photo was taken by Buzz Foto photographer, Brad Elterman in 1976 in front of the Los Angeles Music Center when Jackie Onassis made a rare Los Angeles appearance. Jackie had a Restraining Order set in place by a New York judge against our pal Ron. The Restraining Order stated that he had to stay at least 25′ away from Jackie at all times anyplace in the world. In this iconic photograph, Ron was just making sure with his classic tape measure that he was not too close. This photograph was published everywhere including Time Magazine. The photo tells a story which is what all photos should do. Today Ron lives on and one day his photographs will hang at MoMA in New York. For all those PR bastards who tried to keep him out of their events and created grief when he was performing his craft, Ron has had the last laugh.

Ron Galella, the GREATEST Paparazzo of all time and our good friend. Ron was one of the first Paparazzo and when he ruled he had style and grace. A good friend and mentor to many. He was always full of information and stories to share with all up incoming Paparazzo. Ron is still around and doing wonderful books and shows of his photogaphs. He is a celebrity now and truly Paparazzo Royality. His lastest book is Disco Years, published by our good friends at Power House in Brooklyn.

This photo was taken by Buzz Foto photographer, Brad Elterman in 1976 infont of the Los Angeles Music Center when Jackie Onassis made a rare Los Angeles appearence. Jackie had a Restraining Order set in place by a New York judge against our pal Ron. The Restaining Order stated that he had to stay at least 25′ away from Jackie at all times anyplace in the world. He was just making sure with his classic tape measure that he was not too close. This iconic photograph was published everywhere including Time Magzine. The photo tells a story which is what all photos should do. Today Ron lives on and one day his photographs will hang at MoMA in New York. For all those PR bastards who tried to keep him out of their events and created grief when he was performing his craft, Ron has had the last laugh.
