Legendary Paparazzo in NY

Picture 1 of 1

Our good friend and legendary paparazzo Ron Galella was in the hot seat for a Q&A after the screening of Leon Gast’s documentary Smash His Camera at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. We saw the film at Sundance, which chronicled Ron’s career as a celebrity photographer and the film was powerful and very moving. We highly recommend it!

Buzz Foto Can Be Your Mentor!!

We must say that back in 1975 we had the best mentors. Our two dear friends were paparazzi Richard Creamer and Ron Galella. Richard was a bit more of the traditional photographer shooting set ups and some studio work and of course Ron was and still is legendary. They were both very generous with their time and encouragement.

We can do the same here at Buzz Foto with emerging and established paparazzi. We only ask that you follow all the rules and be loyal to us. If you are only nterested in the fast buck, please do not bother applying!

This was a true moment in paparazzi history when the king of our industry, Ron Galella took the time to meet with the next generation, our Justin Campbell. This is what Ron was always about, sharing all of his talent and knowledge with the new paparazzi breed. Thank you Ron for your paparazzi mentoring over the years, but more importantly your friendship. We love you Ron. P.S. The Magic Of Prince

We made this photograph of Prince in the mid eighties at the American Music Awards. He was a new artist and everyone was excited about seeing him at the show.

We took performance, backstage and arrival photos that evening and nothing really stood out except this photograph. Because we were shooting for the producer, Dick Clark we had all access to the show. That is all fine, but sometimes that is all overkill when it comes to making an iconic photograph. The best and most iconic foto of the evening can be the first photo of them arriving that you share with the entire dog pack.

Kind of like when Galella would wait outside a party and after a thousand inside photographs the star would emerge from the back door and he would do his magic for thirty seconds. Those Galella photographs were the ones to grace the pages of People the following week!
