Fleet street refers to the daily London tabloid newspapers who all used to make their offices on the street named the same. The all moved from Fleet Street years ago and everything is now very corporate.

Their circulations are still impressive and for the right foto, they will pull out a rather large check book. For the big bucks it must be a scandalous foto and best if it is of British celebrity. It goes without saying that it must also be exclusive.

We are fairly certain that the Brit papers will want this foto taken last night of Rod Stewart at Il Sole. The ingredients of this sale is that Rod is Scottish, so he is a home boy, and that Rod looks so dreadful. Remember that the Brit papers love to “take the piss” out of someone. Which means write all kinds of cruel stuff about someone. Finally, the photo is exclusive and that gives us some bargaining power. The only thing that we do not know is if the market is already flooded with photos of Rod all over town looking this prehistoric.

We remember photographing a few dates with Rod back in the Seventies. Rod had this flamboyant press agent, Tony Toon who invited us to the most amazing post concert party at a place here in L.A. called The Green House. We never saw so many stars in our life under one roof. Paul MaCartney, Bryan Ferry, Cher, Greg Allman, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Jimmy Page to name just a few. Rod was there with his latest squeeze, Brit Ecklund.

Now thirty years later Picasso is photographing Rod and this business is bigger than ever!
