Remembering The Starwood

The Starwood was the best place to hook up with someone. If you could not connect with someone there, you had one last chance over at Meat Rack in the parking lot of the Rainbow Bar & Grill at 2am. After 3am Meat Rack was done and you were all alone for the evening.

Hooking up with someone at The Starwood was only half the fun as the place was loaded with rock and roll stars all the time. On this one evening Robert Plant dropped by to see Kim Flowley and his band, The Runaways. That is our pal Michael Des Barres hanging with Plant.

Plant was thrilled with his custom Runaways t shirt, a gift from photographer Richard Creamer. This photo really struck a nerve and was all over the world.

Funny how we still remember the smell of the Starwood. Kind of a combination of puke and piss. We will never forget those odors!

Does This Look Like The Seventies??

This week was the Rock And Roll Seventies & Eighties Record Company, PR & Media banquet held over at El Coyte. The dinner was organized by our dear friend Jane Ayer who we met three decades ago over at Atlantic Records. We dined with old friends and the stars danced on our plates!

We sat next to a good friend of ours who we had not seen in ages, Jackie Fox of The Runaways. Jackie is doing great and looks INCREDIBLE. That meeting prompted us to take a look though our archive where we found this classic and iconic photograph of Jackie at Pamela & Michael Des Barres Laurel Canyon wedding in the late seventies. Here with Jackie is Tony Kaye the bass player for Yes!

Now does this photo look seventies or what?
