Taking Woodstock’s First Day
Ang Lee began the first day of shooting his new movie Taking Woodstock yesterday in Hillsdale, New York. The movie is based on Elliot Tiber’s book of the same name. Woodstock is nothing without picturing Max Yasgur’s dairy farm in which it took place, so it makes sense that Ang Lee would begin production in that field with Elliot Tiber showing the Festival’s organizers the space to go with the music festival permit he had obtained to draw tourists to his parents’ El Monaco Motel. The first scene shot for the movie takes place in the rural countryside of Hillsdale, New York where Elliot Tiber, played by comedian Demetri Martin, meets with the organizers of the Woodstock Festival to show them Max Yasgur’s dairy farm as the eventual location where the Festival took place. Demetri can be seen in the photos wearing white pants and a red-and-white striped shirt with shaggy hair. Other members of the cast can also be seen standing on the hillside. The cast includes: Emile Hirsch, Imelda Staunton, Liev Schreiber, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Eugene Levy, Paul Dano, Zoe Kazan, Dan Fogler, Mamie Gummer, Henry Goodman, and Jonathan Groff.
