The PR in this town want total control of their talent and events. They are not a graceful crew and seem to be so enamored with themselves.
We were horrified when we heard about our friend Phoebe Price being invited to the recent Chanel party and then to be disinvited by a rather short publicist bearing a clipboard.
Don’t get us started on the topic of publicists!! Years ago, before the photo industry exploded, we used to work hand and hand with the PR which gave us a front row seat in life. However, everything is different these days due to the masses of media wanting access to the action.
For the last decade, the PR has done everything possible to block the access of their clients to the media. They want total control over everything including hair, makeup, photo approval and can you believe it syndication too. What does a PR know about photo syndication? You mention Paris Match or Bunte magazines and they give you a funny look on their faces.
This may have been one of the reasons that many editors tossed in the towel with all of the nonsense requests that the PR have made and gone with what the public really wants which is life imitating art paparazzi coverage that is so in vogue today.
However, we do have the PR to thank for making paparazzi so popular today. They declined all the photo and interviews and that made the bounty for these fotos much soar over the last decade. Simple supply and demand.
We still chuckle when we have the spare second to think about the PR these days. Our photos will hang in the Museum Of Modern Art in New York one day while their retainers have long ago expired!
Enjoy this beautiful weekend and get some wonderful fotos!
