via Azcentral.com: A scantily clad woman who led Southern California authorities on a chase in an allegedly stolen tow truck was arrested Tuesday after she climbed out of the moving vehicle and was caught as she tried to run away.

A tow truck operator was hooking a car to the tow truck south of downtown Los Angeles when the woman hopped in his vehicle and took off, police Lt. Wayne Lightfoot said.

The tow truck driver got into another vehicle, possibly the car he was attempting to tow, and followed his truck. During the pursuit, the woman caused an accident before leading police on a freeway chase.

Television reports showed authorities chasing the flatbed truck for several minutes before the engine hood flew up and the truck slowed to a near crawl on the side of Interstate 5 in an area southeast of Los Angeles. Before the truck stopped, a blond woman in a black crop-top and short shorts jumped to the ground and ran off barefoot before being tackled by police at a guardrail.

The woman has refused to identify herself, “either because she’s under the influence or is mentally impaired,” Lightfoot said. Police planned to check her fingerprints to identify her.

She will be booked for investigation of auto theft, he said.
