So, what’s the hold up?
“I think they’re talking about it,” he told MTV News at the Cosmopolitan magazine’s 2011 Fun Fearless Males party. “I think they’re trying to work out what I like to call ‘scheduling,’ ” he joked, alluding to the fact that his salary was still being discussed.
While he’s busy working out scheduling (cough, cough) for that role, this April his take on the classic Dudley Moore flick, “Arthur,” makes its way to theaters. And he’s anxious to see how fans react to his incarnation of the lovable, drunken billionaire.
“Well I didn’t fill his shoes in; that would be disrespectful [and] that would be an act of great desecration,” he teased about playing Moore’s iconic role. “What I did was try my best to just embody the fun and fearlessness of the character Arthur. It’s a brilliant, brilliant film.”
When asked who he thought might be the real life Arthur, he decided he might be the guy to play him best in the real world as well. “I know where you’re taking me and I think I am celebrity Arthur because I play the part of Arthur,” he joked. “You can’t get any closer than playing him in a film.”
