Urban Outfitters wants people to know that it isn’t trying to get rid of a painting purportedly by street artist Banksy that appeared on the side of its Westwood store this week. Several works have popped up around Los Angeles in recent days, leading some to speculate that the elusive artist was staging a unique Oscar campaign for his documentary “Exit Through the Gift Shop.” Despite rumors that Urban Outfitters wanted to remove the painting — dubbed the “Crayola Shooter — the trendy chain told LAist that isn’t so, saying it was proud to have the artwork on its store and was “doing everything in our power to convince the property manager not to touch this important work of art.”

Hayden Christensen on ‘Vanishing on 7th Street’

The postapocalyptic thriller “Vanishing on 7th Street” was originally set in New York, but director Brad Anderson wound up filming the picture in Detroit. “No. 1, they had nice tax incentives and No. 2, if you’re doing postapocalyptic, Detroit is the go-to place,” he says. “The streets are already devoid of people, and abandoned buildings are everywhere.”

Filmed in just 20 days last fall on digital video using the cost-effective Red camera, “7th Street” follows four strangers (Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton, John Leguizamo and 14-year-old newcomer Jacob Latimore) who try to regroup in a tavern after a huge blackout that has left the rest of the world in ruins.

Anderson says he liked Anthony Jaswinski’s script because “it’s not about monsters lurking in the shadows. The shadows themselves are the monsters. How do you pull that off technically so it feels organic and creepy? I liked taking on that challenge.”

The film’s confined setting also proved a draw. “Some of my favorite movies, like ‘Das Boot’ or ‘The Shining,’ are all kind of claustrophobic in the way they deal with cabin fever,” Anderson says. “My last movie, ‘Transsiberian,’ was shot on a train. My first film, ‘Session 9,’ was also very contained. It took place in an abandoned mental hospital with a cast of five actors. Whether it’s a train or a mental hospital or a bar in the middle of a city, I like stories where the characters’ true personalities begin to pop through under these kinds of quarantined conditions.”

The pair, who began dating in 2008, have had a number of very public breakups and makeups over the course of their rocky romance, one of which ended so badly that Ronson’s family filed a restraining order against the ‘Mean Girls’ star.

It seems, however, that the two are in a good place these days, writing flirtatious Twitter messages to each other after Valentine’s Day, with Lohan alluding to a romantic meal the couple shared.

BuzzFoto Blind Item #491

This celebrity couple who broke up recently (not the two singers, which are the subjects of another previous blind) did so because of Facebook. She found out he was repeatedly sending messages to his famous ex via Facebook. It wouldn’t be so bad if almost all of the messages didn’t contain rude jokes and comments at her expense.

An Awkard Moment on Live TV

During a sports report on Australia’s “Ten News at Five,” anchor Belinda Heggen hit sports reporter Mark Aiston with a low blow joke — pretty clearly mocking his penis size on live television.

In defense of Heggen, Aiston really set himself up there, but the look of death he throws her shows that he was less than amused.

We can’t be the only ones thinking those two have a past.
