Michael Starr, a founding member of the Alice In Chains rock band and a recent participant in VH1’s Celebrity Rehab show, was arrested and jailed in Salt Lake City for alleged drug possession.

Salt Lake County Jail records show that Starr, 44, remained in custody Friday in lieu of more than $20,000 bail on two third-degree felony and one class B misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance.

According to a probable cause statement filed with 3rd District Court, Starr was arrested about 1 a.m. Thursday after allegedly being found with a six Opana pills and six Alprazolam pills for which he did not have prescriptions.

Opana is a semi-synthetic opioid analgesic, while Alprazolam is used to treat anxiety disorders and panic attacks.

Starr, who was bass player for Alice In Chains from 1987 to 1993, appeared on Celebrity Rehab in 2010 for treatment of a purported heroin addiction.

A court hearing was not immediately set for Starr.
