Ashton Kutcher Gives Apocalyptic Interview

Ashton Kutcher isn’t putting his money on Washington to save the world, so in the meantime, he’s beefing up for the apocalypse.

Or not. In a bizarre interview with Men’s Fitness (via JustJared), Kutcher talks about how dangerously close we are to the end of the world and what he’s doing to prepare for the fateful conclusion (one word: GUNS!). However, in a quick retort tweet that is sure to sadden all you “preppers” out there, Kutcher admits the interview was just for fun.

“It won’t take very much, I’m telling you. It will not take much for people to hit the panic button,” Kutcher says in the interview. “The amount of convenience that people rely on based on electricity alone. You start taking out electricity and satellites, and people are going to lose their noodle. People don’t have maps anymore. People use their iPhones or GPS systems, so if there’s no electricity, nobody has maps.”

While not completely far-fetched, Kutcher predicts in great detail how total chaos will ensue soon afterward.

“And people are going to go, ‘That land’s not yours, prove that it’s yours,’ and the only thing you have to prove it’s yours is on an electric file. Then it’s like, ‘What’s the value of currency, and whose food is whose?’ People’s alarm systems at their homes will no longer work,” Kutcher says. “Neither will our heating, our garbage disposals, hot-water heaters that run on gas but depend on electricity — what happens when all our modern conveniences fail? I’m going to be ready to take myself and my family to a safe place where they don’t have to worry.”

Now, while you’re picturing Kutcher decked out in Rambo gear shooting down zombies, the ‘That ’70s Show’ alum tweeted on Wednesday that people are taking the interview out of context.

“Sometimes u have to do interviews just to amuse yourself. This is what a conversation looks like out of context,” Kutcher tweeted.

Sigh.
