The Daily Mail is reporting that a South Pacific tribe known as the Yaohnanen from the island of Tanna believe their true ancestral god is Britain’s Prince Philip. This realization comes from seeing photos of him with the queen during a 1974 visit to Tanna’s mother nation of Vanuatu. When the Prince visited, he promised he would return. The tribe was hoping he would stay permanently as soon as his 89th birthday (June 10, 2010) rolled around. The tribe held a grand celebration on that day, but the Prince failed to show for the celebrations. Luckily they had a replacement, Scottish university student Marc Rayner who was working on the island and stood in for the Duke of Edinburgh. Too bad the Prince missed out, Marc got to wear the official ceremonial penis sheath required for the event.

Today is Michael Jackson’s birthday (1958-2009) which would have made him 52 today. In honor of the day, we thought we’d post a pic that BuzzFoto’s Brad Elterman took of the pop legend in 1980. The world will never know “Celebrity” like it did with Michael Jackson. Brad said of this photo:
” I was shooting this evening for the P.R. department of then Columbia Records. It was at the Universal Amphitheater and I remember David Geffen was somehow involved with the event. Back then, Michael did not travel with a gang of bodyguards and umbrellas. Liza had been performing that evening and she gave Michael a bit hug just for my camera.”
