In 1980 we had a really cool studio on Beverly Blvd right at the corner of Martel. One evening, just a couple of doors down from the studio we walked into a gallery opening for Richard Avedon. We had just returned from Japan with Leif Garrett and managed to get one of the first Canon Sure Shot cameras. No one here in the USA had ever seen a point and shoot camera before including Avedon.
Avedon’s photos were always full of life, feeling and many times animation. He was such an inspiration to so many photographers.
Today, Avedon is no longer with us and our studio on Beverly Blvd is now a trendy hair salon, but this photograph and the memories of that evening live on.
