The Britney Recession?
Everyone in the industry knows that we never believed in daily coverage of Britney Spears. It was just too dangerous and not worth the grief. If she fell in our lap, sure we would take the foto, but she was never a daily affair for us. Now it looks like that Britney Spears is no longer the number one target of the paparazzi. According to our sources, the Grand Dame of paparazzi coverage appeared to only have a half a dozen paparazzi covering her movements the last few days. In her golden days, she would have a train or close to fifty paparazzi covering her night and day.
All of the action is now on Miley Cyrus and this weekend she had close to thirty paparazzi on her tail covering her every move, including attending Easter Sunday services at her local Church. Can Miley affect the bottom line of the media, the paparazzi and the photo agencies? Unlikely. There will never be another Britney – she was larger than Elvis. Miley is sweet, but she will never top Britney in foto sales. Why? You need to have major daily controversy with a star to help move fotos. Controversy and Britney always went hand in hand.
